Job Reacher is subscription software for job seekers. It reads job postings that are already public, keeps the ones a particular person can actually be hired for, and prepares a CV and a letter for each. The subscriber reads what was written, edits it if they want, and sends it themselves.
This page sets out the two questions people ask us most: where the postings come from, and what stops a generated CV from saying things that are not true.
The four steps
- The subscriber enters their own work history once. Roles, dates, and what they actually did and achieved. Nothing here is invented by us.
- We collect open postings and set aside the ones that cannot hire them. A posting that requires the right to work in a country the subscriber has no right to work in is not an opportunity, and we say so rather than hiding it.
- For a posting they choose, we prepare a CV and a letter. Every line is drawn from what they entered. An automated check compares the draft against their entries and removes anything unsupported, and the subscriber is shown what was removed and why.
- They send it. From their own email address, or through the employer's own form. We never send on anyone's behalf and never act as them.
Where the postings come from
Only official, public interfaces, of two kinds:
- Public APIs and RSS feeds published by remote-work job sites for exactly this purpose
- The applicant-tracking APIs employers publish with their own vacancies, such as Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Recruitee
We do not scrape. The application contains no HTML parser, no headless browser and no scraping library — it makes plain HTTP requests to those endpoints and nothing else. We hold no accounts on job boards and never read them from behind a login. Where a source asks for attribution or limits how often it may be called, we follow it. Payment providers and rights holders who need the full list of sources can ask us for it directly.
We are not a job board. Employers pay us nothing, hold no account with us and have no contract with us. We publish no job ads and sell no advertising. There is no public listing site: a subscriber sees their own feed after signing in. What we do publish openly is counts — how many employers have a role open to a person in a given country. Those pages carry no postings, no application links and no paid placement, and no employer can buy a place on them.
What stops an application from overstating things
The risk with any tool that writes a CV is that it flatters the person into claims they cannot defend in an interview. Three things prevent that here.
- Every line has a source. A sentence in a prepared CV can only come from an entry the subscriber wrote. There is no step in which the software adds an employer, a date, a title or a number of its own.
- An automated check removes what is not supported. After the draft is written, each line is compared against the subscriber's entries. Lines that go beyond them are cut before the subscriber ever sees the document, and the cut lines are listed for them with the reason.
- The subscriber decides. They read the result, can mark any line as untrue, and send the application themselves. Nothing leaves the account on its own.
We also refuse to help with impersonation of any kind: the software prepares documents about the person using it, for them to send under their own name, from their own address.
What we keep
The work history a subscriber enters, the postings we matched for them, and the applications they prepared. They can export or delete all of it at any time from their account. What we collect and why is set out in the privacy policy, and the companies that process data on our behalf are listed in subprocessors.
